Our Founder
The company was founded by Harry Hirst, an ex-master mariner and retired marine lawyer, . During his legal career Harry worked almost exclusively on cases involving collisions between ships at sea, acquiring over 30 years experience of advising ship owners and their insurers on the likely apportionment of liability for these collisions under English law. He is the author of the book Collisions at Sea - Volume 1: Liability and the Collision Regulations; Volume 2: Case Studies, and has written papers commenting on English and other court judgments in collision cases (see Publications). When he retired from the law, he was recognised to be "a figurehead in the shipping industry" with "a wealth of experience in shipping disputes" (Chambers).
